Department of Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Bengkulu (FEB Unib) was established in 2002 based on the Decision Letter of General Director of Education No. 2404/D/T/K-N/2002. In the first of its operation, Department of Accounting was under the supervision of Department of Management. Further, the Dean of FEB Unib released the letter of assignment of the preparation committee to the Department of Accounting to prepare the curriculum, administration, and the student acceptance procedures for the first enrolment of the first semester 2002/2003.

The organizing committee of Department of Accounting was leaded by Fachruzzaman, SE, MDM,. Ak who was only in charge until 2003 since he had to participate in Doctoral program.

In the end of 2005, Department of Accounting was officially established, where Baihaqi, SE, M.Si,Ak was in charge as the head of department and Eddy Suranta, SE, M.Si,. Ak, as the secretary program from 2006 to 2010. In the period from 2010 to 2014, the head of Department was Dr. Fachruzzaman, SE, MDM,. Ak with the same secretary.

In June 2011, the head department resigned since he was chosen as the person in charge at the graduate program (Master of Accounting FEB Unib).

Furthermore, the position of head of department was taken over by Eddy Suranta, SE, M.Si,. Ak, who was chosen by acclamation for the period of January 2014, and accompanied by Nila Aprila, SE, M.Si,.Ak. as the secretary program. For the period from 2014 to 2017, the head of Department of Accounting is served by Dr. Fadli, S.E.M.Si.Ak with the same secretary program.

Department of Accounting currently opens three specific programs which are divided into Financial Accounting, Public Sector Accounting, and Accounting Management.

Since the first time of establishment, Department of Accounting has widely developed the networking with many Department of Accounting in Indonesia, particularly under the coordination of accountant compartment of educators, Indonesian accounting league (IAI KAPd)

Recently, department of accounting has actively been involving in supporting the local government in several assistances and supervision programs on the financial management officers in several cities and provinces.

The commitment of the quality is reflected by the accomplishment of the accounting development laboratory, computerized-accounting laboratory, and accounting reading room in 2003.

Department of Accounting FEB Unib had firstly accredited “A” by the national accredited institution in 2008.

Furthermore, in the consecutive year, the Department of Accounting has acquired “A” as the accreditation results, which was valued from the same institution (2008403/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/X/2014).

The quality control group is the institution formed by the FEB Unib in cooperation with Faculty quality control unit to guarantee the execution of high quality teaching and learning process from the required quality standards, which have been legitimated by the Faculty Board. Also, the monitoring and evaluation on the achievements of competence on each critical course are conducted, particularly on the courses of Introduction to Accounting, Intermediate Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Accounting Management, and Advanced Financial Accounting.
